Hi,

in Project 2010, the task is for 45 days, there is one resource assigned at 100%. The Resource has 10 days holiday at the start of the task.

Project is calculating 36 days as it shows the resource working on the first day of the task even though the resource has a holiday on that day.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Darryl

If I create a task with a start date of 1-August and a 45 day duration, the finish date is 30-Sept.

If the task is autoscheduled and I assign a resource who has non-working time in their schedule from 1-August through 12-August, the start date of the task automatically shifts to 15-August with a new finish date of 14-Oct. The amount of work calculate is 360 hours. (45 working days * 8 hours per day)

If the task is manually scheduled, the start date of the task remains at 1-Aug the finish date is still 30-Sept. The amount of work scheduled is 288 hours. I do see the issue of the resource being assigned to work 8 hours on the start date of the task.

So, my guess is that your task is manually scheduled? Does the issue resolve if you switch the scheduling for the task to autoscheduled? I see the start date adjust to 15-August but also see the duration expand to 36 days due to the 288 hours.

Thanks JulieInMaine,

you are correct. I just inherited this plan and it has manual scheduling which I am not used to. I have left the task as manually scheduled and set the sub-task to automatically scheduled and it works fine.

It seems to be a bug though that manually scheduling recognises the rest of the holiday apart from the first day, or is ther some wierd logic that I ma not aware of?

Thanks again,

Darryl

I would describe the behavior with manually scheduled tasks as "unusual" to say the least.

You're welcome Darryl and thanks for the feedback.
