I have a simple report in my MAIN report that is just columns and rows with the row data being in the details section. There is some simple grouping for showing only headers for the row data. Column Headers are in the PH section.
It exports to Excel just fine.
GOAL: have a link/subreport in the report specific to one data field where the user can click on the data field and open a subreport of data based on that data (which I have) but still be able to export the MAIN Report to excel without blank columns or extra rows.
I have added an On-Demand Subreport and placed it in the details secion directly on top of one of the data fields that it is linked on. All is working except for the Excel Export (which worked fine before I added the subreport)
PROBLEM: When I export to Excel - Data only, it creates an blank column in the column to right of where the subreport is placed (regardless if the subreport is clicked or not). I tried exporting to Excel (not Data Only ) and it creates an new row with data from the main report appearing in the new row right after the column where the subereport is placed.
So it appears the both Excel exports 'see' that the subreport is there and is adjusting the export for its presence.
- I've set 'suppress blank section' & 'suppress blank subreport' everywhere.
- I've added guidlines on both sides every field in the details section
- I've sized all data fields and the subreport to the same height.
Is it possible to have an on demand subreport in front of a data field but have CR export to excel and not create a column or extra row for the subreport ?
If not, ss there a better way to accomplish having the report setup so a user can click on a piece of data and launch another report based on that piece of data than an on demand subreport on top of a data field ?
