I am slowly realising that a firewall installed on the PC is a sensible precaution. However I am new to the use of one and would appreciate a pointer to get started.

I have browsed CNET and see that SYGATE and TINY have a couple of free Firewalls to download, but are these worth the time?

Can anyone advise or make a recommendation?

Many Thanks

If you are using Windows, then I've heard that Zone Alarm is one of the best.

I Have ZA as well and the best thing is that it is free for non-comercial use! It also alerts/blocks programs on your computer that are trying to access the internet. One day it popped up telling me that power point 2000 was trying to access the internet!
