IGMP snooping and proxy

Hello,

Anyone know the best config for IGMP snooping/proxy on a network with BS450s connected to a Passport (10 vlans with no particuar multicast router or server). I heard that the best is to keep activated IGMP Proxy and Snooping on BS450 and not activated on the Passport!

Hi Narbe,

Keep igmp snooping and proxy running on your 450s, it will preserve your bandwidth from unwanted multicasts, while still permitting your multicast applications to function.
I don't know any reason not to use it on a Passport8k either.

BUT, do not use it on a Passport1k (formerly known as Accelar) ! It does not work properly and isn't supported anymore.
