This is a Windows XP related question (i think):
We have an HP Procurve 2810 series switch acting as the IGMP Querier for an Audio Over IP-based (AOIP) multicast network.
THere are several hosts on this network sending and receiving UDP multicast streams, all of which are managed by the switch to keep traffic out of unwanted ports.
My problem is that one of these hosts does not always respond to Membership Queries even though it is configured almost exactly the same as the other hosts (all Win XP).
The result is that the multicast to or from that host is filtered by the switch, which lasts until the host finally sends a Join message causing the switch to stop filtering.
I can't find any cause for this, hardware, media, or otherwise, so I'm assuming it's to do with the operating system or the application (a WDM driver acting as a sound device). All other hosts respond properly to every Membership Query the switch sends.
So is it possible to adjust IGMP host settings in Windows XP, or am I asking the wrong question? Remember, I am very new to IGMP and multicasting, so everything I've learned is through literature on the internet and by watching traffic with a packet analyzer.
