ifconfig problem

I'm trying to upgrade from 2.51 to 2.8 and everytime I try to do a "ifconfig NF0 plumb" I get an error "Bad File Number"

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That's what you get when you try to plumb a device that doesn't exist. Are you sure it shouldn't be lower case, i.e. nf0?

I've not heard of an 'nf' interface... what kind of interface is it? Annihilannic.
