IfConditionalSection in Before slot produces 'Assert Statement Failed'

Hello,

I would like to add an IfConditionSection to my Before slot to check if a data row is present, and if not, display a special line in the report. Every time I add an IfConditionSection to my Before slot I run the report in Actuate and get an error message 'Assert Statement Failed'. Actuate's documentation states an IfConditionSection can exist in the Before slot but I'm not having any luck. Has anyone gotten this to work? Any help would be appreciated.

Round about solution -
Create an APP level var say app_blnRowsFound as Static and Boolean
Set this to tru on the ONRead()
If the Before Slot in the FINISH() method access the APP level variable and decide what you want to do
