If you are going to work with MySQL the book "MySQL" by Paul DuBois is, in my humble opinion, indispensable. It is written in a bare bones way that is easy to understand and extremely informative. This is not MySQL for dummies so some basic knowledge of at least standard SQL syntax is helpful but for most users it is an excellent resource. It is very well indexed and gives many examples to demonstrate the concepts that are covered. It even covers the MySQL API's for most programming languages. The ISBN number is: 0-7357-0921-1. I very highly recommend it!!

I agree! This book has been very useful for me. A valuable tool for the DataBase user.
