This is from the Manager help files....
· Default to Standard mode: Default = Off
I have one word for this....LIES!!!! Every single new installation of Manager I've seen has the box checked for Default to Standard Mode! If you are going to run Basic mode, you MUST uncheck the box first! (In File->Preferences)

I blame Avaya.

This bit me in the butt 2 weeks ago.
It's the first one I have done since 9.0.5 manager was released

Don't deal with basic mode much, but was just getting one ready for an install tomorrow. This post is a life saver. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get it to come up properly. Thanks!

A little late, but here's another star - first time it happened to me was today, but I remembered reading this post and referred back to it for help - good job! Thanks!

I think you will find this setting is stored in the registry so it will be persistent across manager installs.

Either that or it has dawned on Avaya that no-one in their right mind would willingly install Muppet mode ;-)

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
