I have a spreadsheet that contains phone numbers, but not every entry has a phone number, i would like to have a column to automatically put a Y next to the ones with phone numbers....I have played around with some IF formulas but cant seem to get it right.....any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks Bluedragon that worked great. I would like to try doing something on the same lines but a little different. Lets say i had 2 colums one with a name and one with a phonenumber, is there a way that i could run a macro or something to change all of the cells with a phone number to a Yes and all the blank fields to a N. Essentially erasing the phone number and changing that field to a "Y". Hope that makes sense and thanks again for all the help!!!

Quick way is to insert a column after the phone numbers and apply the formula above and copy down. Then highlite that column and do a copy. Then highlite the phone number column and do a paste pecial/values. Then you can delete the column you created.
