Hi everyone,

I am about to setup windows 2003 server for approximately 50 users between 2 sites. If the main server that windows 2003 was installed on fails, can another server take on the role to authenticate all clients? I ask because a number of articles have stated that you can only have one main DC for any site.

Each site has 2 independent w2k3 servers, what configurations must be done for this redundancy. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You can have as many DCs as you want, including in the same site.

In each site, a DC configured as a Global Catalog, as well as each running DNS and DHCP should really help.

To add to 58sniper's comment, you can have as many DCs you want, but in the absence of a DC that is also a Global catalog you users will not be able to logon. Therefore another DC that is also setup as a GC is a requirement for authentication.

correct.
