Does anyone know what if formula would change the background colour of a cell depending on the condition being tested for? ie if a2>b2 then c2 turns blue. Any clues would be helpful, thanks!

Hi RAClarke,

You need to use Conditional Formatting ..

Select Cell C2
Select Format > Conditional Formatting...
Under Condition 1 choose Formula Is
In the textbox at the right enter [blue]=A2>B2[/blue]
Click on Format...
Select the Patterns tab
Choose your colour and Press OK
Press OK (again) and you're done.

Enjoy,
Tony

Hi,

Checkout:

Its not possible to access colors without VBA, other than via Conditional Formatting

To use Conditional Formatting on the active cell:
1. select Format, Conditional Formatting.
2. In the Conditional Formatting select the Down arrow beside "Cell Value Is" and select "Formula Is".
3. Now enter "+A2>B2" as the formula without the apostrophes and then select the formatting you require when that condition occurs. Finally select the OK button.

If the condition specified is valid then the cell should change color to that specified in your formatting details within the Conditional Formatting window.

Good Luck!
