IExplorer closes on searching

We have both Win2K and WinXP (IE6.1). We visit a website which uses a search feature (eg. - an english/german translation page) and enter the search word. The Iexplorer simples closes on us without an error. To fix this we installed the latest Jave Runtime but it did not help. I do not know if the user ever had a spyware software on his machine and there is no firewall software on it either. We are behind a firewall but most users are fine so it cannot be that. The user may have had a toolbar insatalled to protect pop-ups, but agian it is not there anymore.

Any ideas?
