IExplore running in background 1

Has anyone run into this problem?
I'll open a couple of Internet Explorer windows and surf around, then I'll close them but for some reason, some of them stay resident in the background. I have to manually kill the process in the task manager.

Any ideas?

I've seen viruses cause a similiar problem so run a virus scan here:

Also run Ad-aware and/or Spybot (both free) and see if it finds any spyware/adware which might be the cause of the problem.

Thanks Kento. Yep it was a virus. Looks like my Norton Antiv was out of date. Also, someone installed Mirc on this machine which was where the infected files were.
