Iexplore causes GPF in User.exe

Tried to reinstall IE (5.5sp1) again. didnt work.
Tried to reinstall Windows (ME).Didnt work.

Didnt do any Hardware upgrade.

Any1?
 
WHOA!!!!!!

DO NOT extract user.exe from the CD to replace the one on your HD.
User.exe is a dynamic file, and is specific to your current setup/system.
Replacing it with the original install from the Cd will truly screw up your system. Cheers,

I agree with Comtech, this sounds more like a registry problem than replaceing the user.exe file. Even when you did the reinstalls, the registry settings will still remain... Look into books on the Windows Registry...

There is an external utility from Norton.com called Windoctor, may help ?? you can also try Registry repair utilities, may help as well.
