Hello,
I just purchased a digital video camera. My camera and pc have 4 pin ports. Is there a benefit to buying a 6 pin card and using a 4 pin to 6 pin cable as opposed to using a 4 pin to 4 pin cable? Thanks for the info.
If your components utilize the 4 pin version of firewire then most likely you need a separate power supply for the components. The six pin version however supplies the data and power through the firewire cable. it seems the benefit to buying the 6 pin card, and getting the conversion cable would then allow you the capabilitie of the 6 pin version which supplies you the data and the power through the cable.Im not to experienced with firewire yet, so I would also suggest posting this on the PC hardware -General forum.
