Everytime I start IE8 it always goes to the welcome to IE8 and asks me to input my preferences? How do I stop this?

cheers!

I found that once you input your preferences and save them, it shouldn't ask you again.

So, have you tried saving your preferences?

Also, do you have admin rights?

Hi pechenegs, I'm glad it worked. Since I know that you work with many third party security tools, I just wanted to point out that this condition (and many similar ones) are often caused by 3rd party security utilities. While the intent is good - to protect these registry keys from changes caused by malware, some inadvertently also 'protect' these keys from being changed as required for normal operation.

Yes I agree, I did tend to play with a lot of HIPS programs and probably uninstalled one forgetting to switch off it's features, which has meant no run written to the registry.

However, I have uninstalled all HIPS ( apart from online armor which I got a free years subscription for Online armor's security suite of Firewall, anti virus and HIPS ) and my machine is a lot faster, I guess I'll either have to live with it or reinstall!
