IE7beta2 and 3 hotmail problems

I have an issue with multiple computers running winxp with IE7 betas 2 and 3 accessing Hotmail. The problem started after Mondays security "hole" (gaping void I'd say). With some user accounts the site works fine and dandy (my email there for example), but for others (everyone else!) it works until you try and view a message. At this point IE hangs and needs to be killed with task manager.

I have IE set to accept all cookies and have set the security to lowest to see if that made a difference. I have also cleared all cookies that were on the machines before Monday.

Hotmail seems to work fine in Firefox though!!! Not great for a Microsoft site!

Anyone got any ideas?

Test again and make sure the phishing filter is off & the pop-up blocker are disabled. You also might want to investigate any add-ons (including toolbars) installed. Some of these issues can be traced back to other things. I personally have not had any trouble with Hotmail (other than the OE thing) using Beta 2 or 3, but I did see 1 item in the feedback area that matches your description for Beta 3. When testing Beta software, remember to provide feedback whenever possible - that's the only way that problems can be found and fixed.

Thanks for the advice.

I upgraded all the machines to IE7 beta3, turned the phish filter and pop up blocker off and disabled all toolbars. Just to test I left one machine untouched.

After doing the process on 9 machines Hotmail still didn't play ball (I did work this out after the first machine, but figured I would clean up the rest while I was at it!).

The next day all worked fine including the untouched machine. Looks like it was the boys at Hotmail recovering from the security hole last week.

My advice: don't use Hotmail (you get what you pay for!), and have a second browser to fall back on (IE would be my choice with Firefox as your default browser).
