IE7 will not open some websites with secure logins

I recently upgraded from IE6 to IE7. Now IE7 will not let me login to sites with a secure login. I tried uninstalling IE7 through control Panel and through run. IE6 did not reinstall and IE7 still worked. The message that I get is that Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage-no errors-just says that I am not connected. Other computers in the office with IE7 do not have the same problem. I would like to thoroughly uninstall IE7 and then try again. I do not find any instructions for this. TIA for any help.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I did try those methods. Neither put IE6 back and upon startup, IE7 was right back. Thanks.
