Whilst I cannot find any supporting details online (yet), I have it on good authority that we will see Microsoft release IE7 for XP on October 18th (that's this year).

You heard it here first!

I don't know if the rumours of how it will be made available are true... I "heard" that it will be a Windows Update thing. I just wonder if they mark it as "Critical" [smile]

Cheers,
Jeff

Does that mean Vista is a critical update to XP ? [lol]

Is Vista still marked for January release? or are they moving that forward also?

Vista and IE 7 are now completely decoupled.

There was a time when Microsoft proposed IE7 would be only available for Vista users... but this is no longer the case (note you have been able to run the RC betas of IE7 in XP and 2003 Server for a while now).

Some more information... the October 18th release will be for US (English), Germany and Japan. The rest of the world is likely to follow shortly afterwards.

Cheers,
Jeff

News just in...

The 18 Oct release of IE7 SP2 is only for the US, DEU and JPN. Everyone else (other languages/countries) will follow in October or November.

I think i'll just wait till mainstream, none of my members will use it till it is a critical update forced upon them.
