I've been in Mac/Firefox land for the past couple of months...are there any numbers on what percent of computers have now migrated to IE7? I've some friends who have switched over without realizing it, so I'm assuming that most IE6 computers have converted?

After I "upgraded" and until I managed to roll back, I certainly felt 'penetrated' by IE7 ;)

I've got IE7 on all the computers at home. We don't actually use it at all (except to check final page compatability). At work, we've still got IE6.

That's a dangerous assumption. There are lots of people using 95, 98, Me, NT or 2K that can't upgrade to IE7. There are lots of people working in businesses who could upgrade, but won't because they have applications that rely on IE6 (and don't want to risk them not working in IE7). There are lots of people that don't have broadband who don't want to download IE7. Don't expect IE6 to disappear any time soon.

Looking at other peoples' browser stats is a dangerous business, because the population who visit their site is different to the ones that visit yours. Still, for what it's worth my most popular site had the following stats last week:
[tt]
IE7 31%
IE6 38%
IE other 1% (all IE versions: 70%)
FF 22%
Safari 5%
Opera 1%
others 2%
[/tt]
It's a site about a bad poet, so it doesn't attract a particularly techie demographic. Maybe a more technical crowd would have higher IE7 uptake, or maybe they'd be more suspicious of M$ and have a lower uptake.

The only way you know about your users is through your own stats - get looking at your logs or sign up somewhere like statcounter or google analytics and take a look for yourself.

That's about what i pull on my websites:

IE7 28%
IE6 54%
IE5.5 1%
IE5 1%
AOL 4%
FF 8%
Other 5%

I'm still sad to see how low FF is, but my sites are not techie based :(
