Hi,

I've just upgraded to IE7, but when I open IE, it looks like IE6, yet help about shows it as IE7.

here is a screen shot:
it opens my default home page, but if I then type a url or choose a saved favourite, a new window opens and it display as IE7 should look.

What on earth is going on?

Thanks,
1DMF.

Uninstall IE7 then reinstall. Before reinstalling, make sure you disable security software - probably antispyware, but firewall and antivirus as well. After installation, make sure you immediately re-enable those products.

? haven't had to do that with the other 8 PC's in the office and we all run the same stuff.

any ideas what caused this?

It's not entirely uncommon. IE has a lot of registry entries & seperate files. It could be as simple as a particular registry key not being available at the moment it was accessed. You can find a bunch of info here. IE7 can be installed in safe mode & that usually works well also.

I'll give it a whirl , though I have the strong beleif, if your software doesn't work with my virus protection on, your software loses!

I'm happy to use firefox instead, makes no real odds to me, it's only the XP install with the problem, Vista is running fine, and when the games go DX10, I probably won't be using XP much at all anyhow.

thanks for the link :)
