IE7 does not display local content

I have an Access application. One of its form uses IE ActiveX control to display a tif file stored on the local drive. Since IE can not display tif file directly, I installed AlternaTiff plug-in on IE. The application has been working fine until recently some security software was installed. (I do not know exactly what has been changed on the computer). But the ActiveX control showed the message "This page cannot be displayed." I got the same page when trying to view the page "c:\temp\document.tif" (the path in the address bar) using IE7 directly. My test showed the the IE displayed an online tiff image OK. So my guess is that the content on the local drive was somehow blocked.

Any suggestion?

There's an option under Internet Options > Advanced Options to allow ActiveX controls on local pages.

Thanks. I figured it out. MS security updated somehow deactivated the AlternaTiff plug-in. It did it behind the screen so the plug-in is still shown as Enabled in the Manage Add-Ons screen. That sucks. Fortunately, has a fix for it.
