Hi,

For some reason using IE7 I cannot open an access database
file located on a MS windows 2003 server running IIS6.

It works fine with IE6??

Here is the message I receive: Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

FILE DOWNLOAD SECURITY - WARNING
THE FILE YOU ARE DOWNLOADING CANNOT BE OPENED BY THE DEFAULT PROGRAM. IT IS EITHER CORRUPTED OR IT HAS AN INCORRECT FILE TYPE.

The only options available to me are SAVE and CANCEL
not OPEN which is what I want to do.

If I SAVE the file to my desktop and then open it, it
works fine??? so whats the deal with IE7!!!!!

Thanks,

Bill

Is this a local intranet server you are trying to open the file from? If it is you may need to change the intranet trust settings to allow opening this file. Had a similar problem trying to run .exe's on the local intranet.

Internet Options>Security>Local Intranet>Sites>Auto Detect Local Intranet

Also you could try adding the server to the trusted local intranet sites.

Internet Options>Security>Local Intranet>Sites>Advanced

There may be other settings you have to modify such as the security level for the intranet. Think there was one more setting somewhere to specify the file type, I did it through group policy so I'm not sure off hand where you'd have to change that. Hope this helps.
