IE6 Prompt for ID&PW after SP2

We recently started installing XP SP2 on our desktops and have run into a problem on some of the machines. Sporadic users are being prompted for their User ID and PW's every time they launch Internet Explorer. The users are launching into a Sharepoint / Intranet site as their home page, but we've verified to Auto. Logon on Intranet. They also have permissions to view the Sharepoint page.
Has anyone else run into this problem and if so what was the fix?
