Hi All,
I'm looking for a solution to a colleagues problem. He has windows XP home, and IE7 connecting to the net via broadband. The connection is either by an AOL modem or via the ethernet route of a wireless/wired router. The same probelm occurs on both connection methods. Everything works fine for about 10 minutes or so, but then connectivity disappears.

So far in order to remedy the problem I have:
Run full virus checks
Run Lavasoft ad-aware
Run Spybot
Reverted to IE6 from IE7
Run CWShredder
Got rid of Yahoo, Google toolbars etc.

All to no avail.

I've also run hijackthis and had a look at the log but nothing has jumped out at me as especially unusual.

Can anybody point me in the right direction of what to do next? I can re-install windows, but I'd rather not, and I could try to install Firefox or Opera, but as it's a friend's machine, once again I'd rathe not, especially as that's not really solving the problem but is just sidestepping it.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

Marc

Looks clean, try disabling all connections except the one you are using. See if windows for some reason is trying to use another method.

thread608-1278830 had the answer (the zone alarms file missing gave me the clue).

Seems like the machine had had an install of zone alarms which had either failed or not uninstalled properly. Reinstalled and it now works fine.

Thanks for your suggestions
