One computer here at the office will not display web-based PDF files using Internet Explorer 6.0. The same file from the same website displays properly with other computers. Instead of displaying the PDF, the IE browser displays the little box with the red-X.
The PDF file is associated with Acrobat Reader 6.0 and preferences are set to open the PDF in the browser.
Sometimes we can right-click on the little box with the red-X to save the PDF file and sometimes the "Save As" is greyed-out.
Any ideas or quick-fixes?

There is a known bug in Adobe Reader 6.0 that results in this problem. Until it's resolved, the temporary fix is to have an already open Adobe Reader 6.0 window, minimize it. Then you should be able to view the PDF within IE6.

Maddening issue.

First, make sure all DLLs required for hyperlinks in Explorer are registered properly.

The easiest way to do this is use Ramesh, MVP's IEFix utility:
Second step, upgrade the reader to avoid known issues:
. Upgrade Reader 6.0 to 6.0.1
. Upgrade Reader from 6.0.1 to 6.0.2x

Reboot and test. (There is no straight line from 6.0 to 6.0.2x, do the double upgrade).

(Pick the two upgrade packages carefully, as the choices are a little confusing).

OK, thanks. Uninstalling Acrobat Reader v6.01 and the v6.02 update, rebooting, and installing Acrobat Reader v7.0 fixed the problem.
