Can anyone help with this one, it's very odd?

When I use IE 6 to view sites, sometimes the menu buttons disappear!

For example say I go to a URL (forgot the last URL that caused this, but will find one)

When I am on the site, menu buttons are on the left side (usually) click on a button, doesn't seem to matter which.

When IE 6 navigates me to the requested page, the menu buttons disappear, and the only way to continue navigation of site, is to back arrow ( or key board alt + left)so that the buttons are reinstated, when I select another button the same happens, buttons go, and I must page back to get them again.
Has anyone ever seen similar, or am I completely barking? (yes I think!)

This has also affected some sites that I have a content editor associated with.
Could it be something associated with sites that have frames, or some activex settings? It also happens with a laptop I have (running XP pro), but it does not happen with the win 2k pro pc I am writing this post on.
I have compared settings as best I can and there are no apparent differences on the win2k pcs.
Any help or pointers to manuals would be greatly appreciated.
