ie6 no sound

I have an emachine. I dropped windows me and loaded Windows 98. I also loaded the sound driver for the emachine sound card. Problem is that I have no sound from the internet. All other sounds work fine, just not from the web. I'm using IE6. In checking the sound volume, I have noticed that there is not a separate volume control for mid sounds.

Have you checked Internet Options on the Advanced tab and made sure that &quot;play sounds in web pages&quot; is checked?

That's the first thing I did. All is set as it should be.
I keep thinking of the lack of a &quot;mid&quot; adjustment in the sound driver control. I don't think that would be the problem, but I am at a loss.
