IE6 History by date vanishes

I am using Win XP pro and IE 6.

Whenever I close my browser window, the history by date disappears. "By most visited" seems to be the only option that works, and that doesn't show all pages.

Another problem that I had that may be related.. until yesterday I was unable to right click save pictures from any websites, even my own. I got a message Unable to find path or something. That seemed to clear up after installing Netscape Navigator.

Any suggestions welcome.

After doing lots more digging I *think* I have the problem solved.

McAfee VirusScan's scanning for Active-X controls seems to interfere with IE. Disabling only the ActiveX scanning in McAfee appears to have fixed the problem.
