Any time I try to download any file, I get the usual prompts for save or open and then I specify the folder I want the file saved to. Then I get the window with the floating papers showing the download and the progerss meter. Problem is that the progress meter never advances, and the transfer rate and time remaining never get populated. It just sits there. I have tried everything I can thinmk of to resolve this. I am using XP and it doesn't matter what I'm trying to download i.e. exucuatable, pdf, image, etc. I have never seen anything like this before. Please help!

I'm guessing you need to reinstall XP. Reinstalling just internet explorer might fix it but i'm not sure.

Something just occured to me. If you have a pop-up stopper program running, as a test disable it and see if that resolves it.

Thank you for your response. I thought that the reinstall of XP might need to be done. I already have tried to reinstall IE but the issue continues. What is really weird about this is that this is a fresh install of XP. What I mean is that I just installed XP, went to the web to download some drivers and got this problem. There is nothing else on the machine. And, the install of XP went very smoothly. Anyways, I'll try the reinstall and see what happens.

Thanks,

Will it work if you logon with a different account? joegz

Nope, tried creating a new account, deleting the old account, and also shared every file and folder on the machine to the world basically. No luck. I've been using Windows since 3.0 and never seen anything like this before. Very strange.
