On a Windows XP SP2 workstation, IE has taken to displaying almost all fonts in italics. It has leaked over to HTML formatted Outlook messages which makes me believe it is an overall HTML issue. I have searched the options and settings and the web with no luck on a solution.

Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks in advance!

In IE, if you click "Tools", "Internet Options", "Fonts", are your font settings set to use an italicised font?

Is it just IE / IE derivatives which do this, or 'regular' software as well?

All the font settings are default (unchecked) settings. It seems to do in on anything that is HTML based. IE, emails sent or received in Oulook that are HTML format and Excel spreadsheets saved to HTML pages. It's not everything. Like links are usually normal, underlined text. But all *text* is is italic. I was thinking it might an XML issue since a lot of web pages are using XML and when Office generates HTML from Excel or Word much of the formatting is XML driven. But since I barely know how to spell XML, I'm really just guessing...

Does that spark any ideas for a fix?

Did you fix this? Mine just started doing this today.

Open Notepad and check your default font settings.

I checked the font settings in IE as noted above, but they were all the same as the "known good" systems. I also ran a "repair" on IE from Add/Remove Programs. Even after several reboots, it was no help.

It seems that I was able to finally repair it. It was one of two things I did (or a combination of both, I guess):

I found another fix somewhere else on the web that said to donwload TweakUI and run the Repair>Fonts option. That did not seem to do anything, so I tried replacing several .TTF font files. I copied them from a "known good" system to a network folder and after deleting their counterparts on the "naughty" system, used the Install Fonts option to reinstall from the network location. Again, that seemed to have no effect but after a reboot, all was well.

So there you go... Hopefully it will work for you - let us know!
