IE6 Desktop Shorcuts & Outlook Express 6 Hyperlinks

I am running W2K and was happily using IE5.5

Recently I "upgraded" to IE6 ever since then I cannot get

1. Desktp Shortcuts to web sites to work, after right clicking and adding a shortcut, when I try to execute the shortcut from the desktop I get an error The file does not have a program associated with it

2. Hyperlinks in Outlook Express don't work no error message
pointer cahnges to hand but nothing happens

All of this was fine before IE6

Have you tried reloading ie6? I recently upgraded also, and have no problems like you describe. The only problem I have is that I have no sound from the internet, but I don't THINK it has anything to do with IE6. All my shorcuts work just fine. Try downloading it again, and re-installing.

Go to Start>Run and type:
rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance

and choose repair.

Not on Win2k right now, but check FolderOptions>FileTypes also.
