ie6 and win 2k pro

ok, so I read that there are hundreds of entries re ie 6 issues, and in fact I loaded it onto my PC and then had to rebuild the damn thing from format c upwards.
I want to buy some Bang and Olufsen stuff but their website requies ie5.5 or later.
I'm running ie5, with no issues, and am loathe to update for fear of a repeat performance of the bugs etc.
I can't be doing with registry hacks etc, I just want it to work!

The burning question is
Dare I upgrade to ie6....

I use the mozilla browser (available from

http://mozilla.org)

which seems to work fine on the bang-olufsen site.

Another alternative is Opera (

http://www.opera.com)

which is another nice browser and gives you the option to change your browser "identity" - so although you're running Opera, it can pretent it's IE6, or any other browser you choose.

As for installing IE6, I can't really comment, I don't use it that often!

Sooner or later you will have to leave IE5. I have IE6 running on three systems at home and on 5 systems at work and have yet to have a problem on either system with the browser. Doesn't mean you may not experience a quirk as lots depends on what other software you are running and if your hardware is current.

I would recommend though that you download the whole IE6 setup files rather than doing the upgrade online. You are prone to less issues I believe this way.
