Ive got a computer that has a standard corporate build of Win 2k Professional running. I can access all contents of the web without a problem but I am having problems with the hotmail.com site

when i type in my username and password, the site does not allow me access to my inbox but instead after taking a while returns the page " this site is temporarily not available, please try again later etc etc"

I know for a fact this is due to sum restriction imposed by my company and it is nothing to do with my user profile as I can access the site no problem from all the other computers in my office.

Is there any way I can overcome this? i have admin rights to my computer.

Any help much appreciated.

1. Since hotmail uses https to authenticate logons have your tried other sites that also use https to logon to see if it works as well?

2. Have you tried deleting your cookie for hotmail?

If it was a restriction would the same restriction be imposed on all other machines on the company network or are you certain that your machine was just isolated.

Im not sure which other site i cud try to "log on" to see if https authentication will work or not.

Yes ive already tried deleting the cookies and temp internet files...

My machine is a recent build within the last 2 months as i have recently transfered to this office. So i think it may be just to do with machines built recently. Not sure though

You should heed joegz's advice on this...this sort of problem is generally old hat (unless you do have a restrictions imposed). It's extremely doubtful that it has anything to do with the "build" of the machine. Try another "secure" site, like your bank, or credit card co. or something of that ilk. Before you do anything, make sure that the dte and time are coorect on the machine in question.

OK, this is really weird.....but i thought of trying it through Netscape Navigator and its logged me on....so it sounds like IE6 browser problem, but not too bothered now....as long as i can check my hotmail while being at work for a few mins, im happy....thanks for trying guys...and thanks bcastner because when i opened your link, i saw Netscape and thought, hey i got Netscape installed and hence why it worked.
