I have been experiencing some problems with gmail and want to try firefox as a possible solution. Can I have both IE6 and Firefox installed and switch between?

Tes.

er... I think carr intended Yes as the answer.

I am not a big fan of using multiple web browsers, but I have IE and Firefox installled together without issue.

Man, I am fat-fingering left and right today.

"YES" was my intended answer.

I run both, but find Firefox useless when running internal apps built by my agency for IE use.

Thanks all. Installed 1.0 Firefox and have it in addition to IE6. Problem with Gmail still exists so must be on their end. Thanks for the tip.

carr, thanks for the chuckle.

w7zr,

GMAIL is very dependent on the ability of your browser to use javascript.

If you could give more details as to your GMAIL issues, it would help a lot to try and resolve the issue. IE can do GMAIL without problems, if all is right.

Bill,

Thanks for your interest. The gmail issue I have is that I have not been able to get into the site since yesterday morning. It was intermittent then. When I go to the page never displays. This happens with both IE6 and Firefox so now I am leaning that it is google's problem. The error message is: Cannot check messages (12007) Unable to find the server in DNS.

Any help will be appreciated.

Dick

It is a site issue, and not your client side issue.

GMAIL has become a very attractive client for offensive SPAM and Denial of Service attacks.

My 14-year-old daughter asked me this morning why here mailbox on GMAIL was full of porn links.

Do nothing. There is nothing you can do. Let the Google folks sort the issue.

Well, not good news for me as still today (Tuesday) I am not able to get in and no one at gmail support will answer my emails. So I am at a loss as to what to try next.

More clues. It really does not appear to be computer specific. The same error comes up regardless of the computer on the network that I use. No problem with

No this is a simple home network. Using a Linksys wired router with a Speedstream DSL modem.

It is fixed. It was a DNS issue with the ISP. Solved for now by forcing a primary and secondary dns.

Tnx all

Be sure you check with the ISP that their DNS server addresses do not change. They rarely do, but they do.

YES YOU CAN HAVE INTERNET EXPLORER AND FIREFOX INSTALLED AND SWITCH BETWEEN THE BROWSERS.
