I am running '98, (upgraded ie5 to 6) have Broadband but had the same problems with my modem as well.

Ie5 loads a page, then occasionally I click on a link and it just sits there and does nothing. The only way I can get it to move is to right click and open in new window.

The problem is so bad I have had to download the Netscape Browser but would like IE5 back! Have cleared out my cache, checked advance settings, turned security right down - nothing works and it is not easy to re-install without losing Outlook!

Try running the command

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

Or try installing SP1 for IE6 which should fix the urlmon.dll issue.

If you had Gator installed at one point make sure the program directory for Gator has been removed as well. joegz
