Hi,

I run two systems, a desktop with Win 98SE and a laptop with WinME. Both have IE5.5

I have had a website hosted by my ISP and about 2 months ago moved it to another hosting service. Since then the desktop can see the new site and update it with no problems. But the laptop still points to the old site.

This appears to affect all Internet applications, Telnet FTP etc, so I'm assuming that maybe its a proxy server type of thing.

Can someone please point me to the way to re-set the destination for the laptop. Regards,
Bernard Davis

after clearing the temp files and all the cache, go to Tools->Internet Options in IE and then in the General Tab, and in the Temp files settings, hit the settings button and check to Check for newer versions of the page every time.

If you are saying that your FTP software is still pointing to the old FTP site, try going to the FTP site using IE and when in there go to File and Login as to get in as a different user and point it to your new FTP site....

I think this is what you are after....or have I completle misunderstood your question!! Jay~

My new Tae Kwon Do website is up and running!!

Hi,
thanks for the info, but unfortunately this doesn't make any difference. The cache on the machine is completely cleared out, and I've set it to get the latest version of every page. As far as I can tell both machines are connecting in exactly the same way. No Internet programs are able to connect to my new domain from the laptop. The FTP program should point to the new site, even Telnet makes won't connect when I enter the new domain name.
I can't see any reason why the two machines should connect differently, but they do! I suppose its because its a computer - it can do what it wants.

Are the dns settings the same for the dialup adapter, do you use a modem or broadband, and do both machines connect the same way?
