I have a clients pc, that will not leave the home page. Homepage is set to When you go to the title bar and type in say, it pulls up murdercreek.com, but will still have google in the addy bar. It does it for everything site that i have typed in. Its really got me puzzled. I have never seen this before. I thought that it was something with my DNS here at the shop, but then it would do it to all clients, and not just this one.

man, i am lost.......[dazed]

what all have you done so far to try to fix it? there are so many different things to try i wouldn't know where to start. but, no i don't have the fix for it right off the top of my head except for IE repair tool, reset defaults scan for spyware ect.

i have removed and reinstalled DUN. Repaired IE, reset to defaults. Update to 5.5 was the first thing i did (it was IE 4 running on win95 [sadeyes]) I have not run any adware stuff yet tho. gonna try that now...

I'd suggest searching
1. the registry
2. your "hosts." file
3. the entire hard disk
for " or "murdercreek.com"

hopefully, the results of this should point you in the path of recovery :)

As you're a pro in a tek-tips forum, I'm sure I don't have to remind you to backup before making changes to the registry. so i won't. ;)

what i don't understand is the repair tool SHOULD have fixed that. that is what it has been good for in the past for me. however, what manarth said would/should be the next step. good luck, if this don't work and you really did all you said the next step for me would be format/restore. :-(
