ie5.5/OE socket error: 11001

Yesterday, ie 5.5/OE worked OK. Today, neither will connect, with error message: "The Host 'pop......' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: ',,,,,,,,' server '.....'; protocol; POP3, Port: '...', SSL; No, Socket Error; 11001, error number; 0x800ccc0d" Have tried everything short of reinstalling W2K & ie. Nothing works.

Any ideas?

Do you know for certain your ISP is currently available? Otherwise you can get sockets error messages because your SSL setting is wrong. Off when it should be on or vice versa.
