Hi,
Wondering if anyone's encountered this problem before. We have a client who recently got a reimaged Compaq Deskpro2000 with IE5.5 SP1 loaded. He's able to browse the net, although he complains occaisonally it's slow. The other day he called us in and said that whenever he entered a text in any search field (whether it be google, yahoo or any other sites) the system locks up. Ctrl-Alt-Del reveals CPU usage at 100%.

Upgrading it to SP2 did not help at all. (BTW, NT is running on SP6a). Could this be a dll corruption problem?

TIA for any response,

It's likely there's some spyware/browser hijacking involved...adaware or spybot or similar apps may straighten things out.
Also, tried a repair of IE?
