Every time my computer boots up, IE4.0 wants to automatically connect to the Internet. The Cancel Auto Connect box is not accessible, and I can not find where to shut it off. I've tried deleting my dialup connection, re-booting and checking the cancel auto connect box when it tries to connect. Then set up dialup connection thru Connection Wizard. Still tries to connect on next bootup.
Any ideas?

A couple of things you can try.

First, go into IE. Click the view menu and then internet options. under the connection tab, besides "connect to the internet using a modem", click the settings button. Down at the bottom, make sure that the "Connect automatically to update subscriptions" box is not checked.

Second, under the General tab, click on the Temporary Internet files settings button. Make sure that the "Check for newer versions of stored pages" has "Every visit to the page" or "Never" selected.
I hope that one of these helps. If not, leave another post and I'm sure myself or someone else can figure something elso out.
Matthew Blyde
mblyde@becon.org

What I suggest is that you make a shortcut to your dialer on your desktop and set IE to use Lan then only connect through your shortcut. Im pretty sure that should take care of it.
