I'm thinking this is a more relevant forum than XP so i'll post an issue i raised there in here.
We have an intranet site that contains a number of office resources excel word and pdf docs. This works fine on Windows 2000 with IE6 when a user clicks on a link a box opens saying do you wish to open or save the file. If a user tries this on an XP box with IE6 an IE window opens with the correct URL but the file fails to open if i refresh the window then the file opens.
This also fails with IE7 but differently, in this case the new window pops up but is then closed straight away. I have the popup blocker turned off.
The links redirect to a mapped network drive that contains the files, the user can browse to the file and open it so it's not a permissions issue.
The page that contains the links uses Flash and possibly Java so it's possible that a new security feature might be causing an issue.
Can anyone suggest what security setting might be causing this?
Here is the link to my other post thread779-1308659
Thanks.
When you are the IT director, it's your job to make sure the IT works. If it does work they know already and if it doesn't, they don't want to hear your pathetic excuses.
