How do I stop IE windows opening when I start up my computer? It just started occuring one day and I can't figure out how to stop it.

Thanks for your help.

Download and run Adaware from here:

Let the program delete any spyware it finds. You'll have to check the boxes to select them...it'll just show them to you first.

Likely you've gotten some so called "spyware"...software added to your computer that relays your habits and practices to merchants who then target you with certain emails and know what ads to show you as you surf.
Just run Adaware on a regular basis and flush the IE cache and Downloaded Program Files regularly. That helps IE run better, too.
If this doesn't help post back and we'll look further.

I ran the adware program, but the windows are still comming up. One of the windows that appears comes up in full screen then minimizes itself and cannot be maximized. I have to end task that window before it will close.

When you end task on the mystery window...what application is running it?

The question that you asked helped me fix the problem. There was a file name in the task manager that was trying to open in IE. I searched for the file name and deleted it, and the window no longer comes up. Thank you for your help.
