Should be a simple question. Some time ago I learned how to customize IE window size. You adjust the the size of the window by putting the cursor on the corners and the hit two key strokes, but I can't remember what they are. Something like Alt+m or Windows key+g. Then when the window comes up agian it will allways be that size. Anyone remember. Thanks

The only one I can think of is: holding CTRL key while you click the X (close) with the mouse.

I should add that there may be other possibilities.

Hello,
Have been fiddling with CTRL/Close and Alt/M and Windows/g but haven't figured out how to fix IE window size...

Any definitive tips?
thanks

The size of the IE window can be changed many ways and also the secondary windows of IE. Each of the following ways work, so choose your method.

1)Open IE. Place pointer over title bar left click and hold. Move entire window to align the top left corner of the window to the top left left corner of the monitor....release button. Move pointer to right lower corner (with gray diagonal lines) til pointer turns dual arrow. Left click and hold. Drag this corner to lower right corner of monitor and release. This may have to be repeated several times as IE has several root windows and each has to be changed manually.
2)Javascript message in the Address bar IE will convert all IE windows to that size. Basically this javascript tells IE to make the Window AAA x BBB (AAA & BBB are numbers of the screen size like with screen resolution sizes). Let me know if you would like this method and I'll post it (not on my PC now...need to check my files).
3)Create a shortcut for IE and alter the properties of the shortcut to have IE open maximized.
4)If you like full screen mode, IE settings in the Registry can have IE always open in full screen. In Win98:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Full Screen change the defult vaule of no to yes.

Also there tons of 3rd party softwares that will do this.

As far as what you were trying to remember "Alt"+ some key. This is for those windows that open in Windows (not for IE). Holding the Ctrl key down while clicking the X in the top right corner of the window will tell windows to retain the window's size for reopening (not all applications have this flexability and this will not work on some applications...their size is preset in their programming). Holding the Shift key while clicking the X in the corner with tell Windows to remember the position of this window on your monitor and will open it there in the future (like the prior tip, not all programs will allow this).

HTH, Dana:))
