I was just wondering why when I run divx to watch Star Trek show my sister sends me my IE 5.5 stops working. It comes up with a msg: MSOE file can't be open. I have to wipe divx program clean out of my system then re-install IE 5.5
why is that??

MSOE is Outhouse Express. Dump it, and get Outlook 5.5 or better yet, Eudora or Pegasus for mail. Cheers,
Jim

First off, do you have the DivX codecs?

See if this apllies:

SYMPTOMS
When you upgrade Outlook Express 4.x to Outlook Express 5 and attempt to start Outlook Express 5 from either its desktop icon or from within Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, you may receive the following error messages:

Outlook Express could not be started because msoe.dll could not be initialized.

Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to start the Internet Account Manager. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk may be full. Contact Microsoft support for further assistance. (0x80007114)

Or, when you upgrade Outlook Express 5 to Outlook Express 5.01 and attempt to start Outlook Express 5.01 from either its desktop icon or from within Internet Explorer 5.01, Outlook Express may not start. You may receive an hourglass and then nothing happens. There is no error message.

CAUSE
This behavior can occur if there is missing or corrupted information in the Outlook Express Identities key.

RESOLUTION
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).

To resolve this issue:

Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel and double-click Add/Remove Programs.

On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Outlook Express 5, and click Add/Remove to uninstall Outlook Express.

Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and click OK.

Locate the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Identities
Back up the registry key:

On the Registry menu, click Export Registry File.

In the Save in box, click Desktop, in the File name box, type identities, and then click Save.

Right-click the Identities key and then delete it.

Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.

On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools, and then click Add/Remove.

Click Add a component, and then click OK.

Click Outlook Express in the list, and then click Next to continue installing Outlook Express 5.
