Citrix server is beginning to have a space issue on its
"C:" drive(actually M:)
Is there a way to clean up the temporary internet files from everyone's profiles so I can free up some room? Without logging in as the person, there is no way in NT Explorer to delete those files...
Also, since we can control the size that this folder can grow in Tools, Options---
is there a way to GLOBALLY set everyone's Temp Internet files to stay under a certain size?
Can I use change user/install to do this?
Thanks,

You can control the way IE works using change user/install, but you need to do it for the default profile; ie you'd probably have to delete existing users' profiles in order for everyone to get the changes.

The best way (although possibly not the most efficient in terms of things that can be modified) is to implement a system policy using an IE custom policy template.

I totally agree, IE temp files - and all orther data files - should be kept out of user profiles. I like to keep profiles around 1.5Mb, where possible.

Here's a link to some good templates;

Hope this helps!

Another way to keep Temporary Internet Files and other folders from being stored with a user profile.

To simply excluded them from being saved, use Regedt32 to navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

On the Edit menu, Add Value name ExcludeProfileDirs as a type REG_SZ, and set the string data to the names of the folders, relative to the profile root, that you wish to exclude. If entering more than one, they must be separated by semicolons.

Example:

Temporary Internet Files;Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook;Personal

When you say relative to the profile root...
Profiles exist as M:\Wtsrv\Profiles
In this registry value, how would I type that in?

And if I exclude Temp internet files as a profile directory, does that mean no temp internet files get saved ever? And having done this, can I delete the existing Temp internet folders in each person's profile?
