We are using a newly-installed browser-based applications management system in our org., over 250 users on XP in a domain. There is one machine that is launching one app with the browser window re-sized to where all you can see is the title bar. You can grab the frame and drag it down to view the window's contents, but every time the user launches this app the browser shrinks the window to nothing but the title bar. Has anyone seen this behaviour? HELP!

I suppose I am looking for a registry hack or control feature that can disable the resizing, or at least force the system to remember the window's last-used sizing. OR how about a way of forcing IE to always open windows in maximum size?

Adding third-party apps (like TweakUI) is not a possibility due to security restrictions. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a third party app/or a hack has already made it's way onto that machine, most likely through the browser.

Do you use spyware removers? have a look at ad-aware from lavasoft.de - had a similar problem months ago - haven't looked back since

You're on XP - Is System Restore enabled?

Just a thought

It's important in life to always strike a happy medium, so if you see someone with a crystal ball, and a smile on their face ... smack the fecker

Make sure that you're not maximizing the window. With only 1 IE window open, drag the edges to nearly full screen, then close IE. Now test to see if is stays the same.

Further to smah's post, I'd use File ->close not the X in the right hand corner. I find a lot of apps won't save their settings, windows size, etc. if you don't use file ->close.

Cheers.

Going to try your suggestions to rectify problem as it stands. Would like to think it's something simple!

But my larger question still stands about the registry hack for controlling window sizing. Does anybody know where we can control window sizing in IE or Windows for that matter?

Thanks again for the suggestions; have not tried them yet, but will report back soon.
