well, it's the oddest thing. if you take a peek at :

you'll see (in firefox) my rounded tabs have some strange space above them. in IE, this space is not present, and, for some reason, that tabs are not rounded.

this has been frustratin'. what i am trying to do is align the tabs to the bottom of the header, and center them. This doesn't appear to be a positioning (absolute, relative?, but maybe a padding/border issue? dunno.

can someone please show me where my code is crapping out?

Again, I can see no difference in the page using Mozilla 1.7 and IE6. What IE browser are you using?

What strikes me odd with your CSS is the amount of hacks you are using. Since you have the correct doctype in your page, all these hacks shouldn't be neccessary for you to display the page correctly in IE6 and other standards-compliant browsers. It might not look pixel perfect in older IE browsers, but I wouldn't worry about that since their number is decreasing rapidly. Try to remove the hacks and see what happens.

But as I said, I get a perfectly similar picture in IE6 or Mozilla, there is no odd space above the tabs and they are rounded in both browsers.
