I just posted here an hour ago.. hehe

While I was trying to debug my other problem, I ran across an XP machine that has IE6 on it and for some "God only knows" problem where each page she opens has a 10 second delay after it's loaded. The green status bard stays full for about 5-10 seconds then you're able to click on links again. I've tried uninstalling the program and although it says it's successful, when you try to upgrade it won't allow it saying a newer version is installed on the computer. It's very strange because there is nothing left to uninstall in the control panel.

Has anyone fun into a problem simular? Thanks again!

I'm running W2K and IE6 and just started having the same problem 3 days ago. I have no idea why and don't believe I've made any changes to the machine or the configuration.

If you or anyone has been able to solve this, I'd love to hear how.

Thanks.

I am having this same exact problem which started about 5 days ago. I still have not found any solution yet.

Very likely malware(s) at work. Run through the steps enumerated here: faq608-4650
Post up a log if necessary. Best if you do so in forum760

I vote with carr on the issues being discussed here. The adware/spyware/worm/trojan folks are exhausted, as February 2004 brought out an unprecedented level of malware on the Internet. As a start for resolving the issue, see faq608-4650

If you decide to reinstall IE, you can avoid member mijohnst's frustration above by following exactly Daniel Petri's advice from this link:

I have been battling this problem for over a week. I decided trying a spyware sweeper that PC Magazine recommends. It took care of my problem of the IE freeze. Please look into Spy Sweeper. My IE is running smooth again. :)

to bcatlady: I am glad you found the solution and post here to help us.

Also thanks to Carr for the instructions. That also helped me. For a week I have been re-installing IE and using Spybot. Neither one worked. Then I followed Carr's suggestion to use Ad-Aware which was able to fix the problem that Spybot was not able to. As bcatlady suggested, spyware sweeper also works. I guess it comes down to which spyware removal program was able to implement updates to battle the new hackers - in this case Ad-Aware and Spyware Sweeper are the winners.
